Visual journalist

The successful candidate will be working in a combined Pictures and Video team to produce a daily file of high-quality pictures and videos from Argentina, ensuring fairness, accuracy and speed of delivery to our clients. She or he will also be expected to plan, propose, and produce picture stories of the highest quality, to offer clients and readers the stories behind the news.

The successful candidate must have a global perspective to go with their intimate knowledge of the stories in Argentina. She or he needs to be flexible enough to deal with a fast-moving business which can involve unsociable hours and the need to travel at short notice.

Specific day-to-day responsibilities and milestones needed to achieve the objectives. Key duties include:
Coverage of events of international interest in Argentina for the Pictures and Video file.
Coordinating news coverage and delivery as part of a multi-media team daily.
Establishing a rapport with colleagues in bureaux across all media.
Ensuring all work abides by the Reuters Trust Principles.
Qualifications
At least four years work in news photography is essential
Formal training and/or experience in news video production
Understanding of the needs of photo clients, locally and internationally.
Some experience in coverage of international sports events.
Fluent visual skills and English writing skills.
Success at long term story-telling through pictures.
Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines, many times unsupervised.
Strong planning and prioritization skills.
Willingness to travel to breaking news stories, often at short notice.
Ability to work well and learn within a team.
